Order of the head of the Lviv regional state administration "On the approval of the Regulation on the civil protection department of the Lviv regional state administration" Civil defense is a function of the state aimed at protecting the population, territories, natural environment and property from emergency situations by preventing such situations, eliminating their consequences and providing assistance to victims in peacetime and in special periods. The main tasks and measures in the field of civil defense are: - prevention of emergency situations; - protection of the population and territories from emergency situations; - liquidation of emergency situations and their consequences; - fire prevention and extinguishing; - collection, processing, exchange and provision of information on civil protection issues; - analysis and forecasting of man-made, natural hazards and possible emergency situations, assessment of their socio-economic consequences; - accounting and maintenance of the State Register of potentially dangerous objects in Ukraine; - creation and maintenance of a notification system in constant readiness; - prompt notification of the management bodies of the unified state system of civil protection, civil protection forces, enterprises, institutions and organizations and the population about the occurrence or threat of an emergency situation, timely and reliable information about the situation that is developing and the measures taken to prevent emergency situations and overcome their consequences; - planning of civil protection measures for peacetime and a special period; - implementation of constant monitoring and laboratory control of the state of the natural environment and at enterprises, institutions and organizations.
